Techno Tourism
Toronto's Newest Tourist site starts it's beta testing this week, as Canada's original ceiling fan store morphs into a tour site.
Visitors to Canada and travelers from across Ontario are discovering an amazing destination tour site worthy of their time. They are coming to take in ten immersive and feature rich galleries, showrooms and studios connected by a major attraction, eleven years in the making. Surf over to the testimonials section of this website to hear what people are saying about their experiences. www.wilcorp.com/about-us/testimonials.html
Is it a working science museum with stores included, or is it multiple stores within an art gallery? No matter how you define these feature attractions, the experience at Wilcorp is completely different to any other. Guided studio tours are available on request for small groups of the young and the young at heart. Wheelchair access and loads of free parking make this tour site an easy journey. Located at the heart of the Toronto Design and Decor District, Wilcorp is only blocks away from some of the best home decor shopping in Ontario.
In less than an hour visitors can experience the World's Largest Fan store, an automated machining facility integrated into a mega store, and stand beneath an antique elevated "G" scale model railway operating along 1500 feet of track. Arguably the longest model railway bridge in the world, Willow World is a work of art in progress as museum quality buildings are erected along 160 feet of twentieth century railway village. www.wilcorp.com/idea-gallery/Willow-World-Railway.html
Tour guides offer 'a behind the scenes' peek at how the automated railway stays on time and on track. One very cool part of this tour, is how precision parts machined on state of the art CNC work centers at floor level, are then elevated up to an overhead railway and onto waiting rail cars. Engineered parts transporters shuttle OEM component parts through a miniature turn of the century village and onto a gravity packaging siding.
Feature attractions, dynamic displays, wall art and home accents theatrically illuminated make you feel as if you are walking through a film studio. There is even a Paris style Cafe where hot and cold beverages, finger food and a dollop of hospitality are served up every Saturday and during Event Days. Week day attractions include highly skilled machinists turning out precision parts for some of Canada's premier manufacturers, as well as a busy six axis robot processing parts when it's not entertaining visitors with some of it's own antics.
Tourists, destination shoppers, model railway buffs, store designers, interior designers, film location scouts and economics students in search of new business models will all enjoy The Wilcorp Experience.
